I
have worked or been involved within the farming industry all my
life, mainly with pigs and dairy.
All the pigs
that I worked with were of a commercial breed. I became involved
with Gloucester Old Spots and Large Blacks after buying some from
the local market in 1987 for fattening and selling on.
This progressed
into purchasing my first pedigree Large Black's From Devon, two
sows and a boar.
As time went
on I decided that I would like to keep another breed and being
from Gloucestershire all my life I decided on a Gloucester Old
Spot from a sale I attended. In 1994 we decided to keep another
breed, Middle Whites and we purchased our first gilt at the R.B.S.T
show and sale.
The herd has
now increased drastically over the years to running one boar line
and three female lines in the Large Blacks, three boar lines and
four female lines in the Gloucester Old Spots and three female
lines in the Middle Whites.
